CM Heads Adelaide Alumni Group

Amongst other prominent alumni who served in the Executive Committee are: YB Jacob Dungau Sagan, Dato Seri Joseph Kong Ted Chong, Datuk James Ting Sing How and Mr. Henry Lau. Henry is an Engineering graduated and currently the Managing Director of KTS Group of Companies.

Mr. Rodger Chan, an Australia graduated who also studied Information Technology of the University, is the Honorary Secretary of SAUA. Besides is also the President of the Sarawak Australian Graduates Association (SAGA).

Amongst the activities planed for the Association members are the Official Launching of  SAUA in July, AGM cum picnic (CM’s Residence) in August, AUIAC 2002 in Melbourne in September, Homecoming in Adelaide in September, an Australian School Concert Dinner in December and an Australian Host Family Program in December.             

The fact that the Chief Minister is the inaugural President of SAUA, further demonstrate his commitments to the University and its alumni. This was reported in the recent issue of the University’s newspaper, the Adelaidean. Mr. Rodger Chan, Honorary Secretary of the Association, calls for graduates of the University of Adelaide to come forward and join as member of the Association. A recently-established Adelaide alumni group, called Sarawak Alumni of the University of Adelaide (SAUA) is headed by the Chief Minister of Sarawak, Yang Amat Berhormat Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Haji Abdul Taib Mahmud, as its inaugural President. Taib graduated from the University of Adelaide in 1960 with a law degree and later received a Doctor of the University award. Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Haji Adenan Haji Satem, the Deputy President of the Association, is also a law graduate of the same University graduated in the year 1969.
